The summer house at Sicily makes the best use of the most basic natural regularities and climate conditions of the location, making up a natural eco-concept.

The locality on the north-eastern coast of Sicily offers breathtaking views at the Lipari archipelago and the Stromboli volcano. The house is situated in the middle of an olive groove.

The lengthwise character of the house and the east-west orientation of the main ax allow see views from each of the rooms, their protection from the sun rays and at the same time it utilizes the cool see breeze for natural ventilation of the house.

The heart of the house is a patio, dividing the house into two almost independent parts meant for two families. From the south we propose a „filter“ – a space for exterior staircase, which protects the house from the hot Sicilian sun. The perforation of the southern façade allows the crosswise ventilation of the house.

We are using traditional materials – local stones and bricks from local factory.

A spacious roof terrace offers amazing night views at the still active Stromboli volcano.
